Gait analysis that reads every step
Iris now uses Baliston Health AI Mov-Scan — smart sensor insoles that measure how you walk, run and jump inside your own shoes, with a full clinical report ready in minutes.

Three steps. One clear answer.
No gait lab, no markers, no wires. The assessment happens in your own footwear, at the pace you normally walk.
Insert
Your clinician slides the AI Mov-Scan sensor insoles into your own shoes. Nothing is attached to your body and no calibration is needed.
Move
You walk naturally for around three minutes — with a cane or walker if you use one. For athletes, we also run running and jump protocols.
Read
The app produces a full clinical report within minutes. Your physiotherapist explains the findings with you and builds the plan.
The technology behind your assessment
Four connected components — from the sensor in your shoe to the report in your clinician's hands.

Motion sensors that fit in your shoe
Two small sensor modules — left and right — capture acceleration and orientation of each foot while you move. They record motion rather than plantar pressure, and sample more than 1,000 times per second.
- Accelerometer and orientation sensing on each foot
- More than 1,000 data points per second
- Wireless 2.4 GHz connection to the app
- No markers, no calibration, no lab required

Your own shoes, your real gait
The pods sit inside a customisable insole that goes straight into the shoe you actually wear. That means we measure the way you really move — in everyday footwear, trainers or sports shoes — not on a treadmill in a lab.
- Fits your own everyday or sports footwear
- Available in a standard range of sizes
- Natural overground walking and running
- Quick to fit — about three minutes of walking

A complete clinic-grade kit
Pods, insoles and charger travel together in a protective carry case. Because the system is portable, assessments can happen in the treatment room or on location.
- Portable carry case for clinic or on-location use
- Dedicated charger for the sensor pods
- Same platform, from a single room to a full lab
- Backed by Baliston Health platform and support

From raw motion to a clear report
Results appear in the Baliston Health app and web dashboard. The AI assistant, Balia, helps your clinician interpret the findings and compare them with your history — but the clinical decision always stays with your practitioner.
- AI-generated Full Clinical Report in minutes
- Side-by-side comparison across visits to track change
- Report shared with you and your care team
- iOS, Android and web dashboard
Four analyses, one platform
The protocol is chosen to match your goal — from everyday walking to returning to sport.
Walk
Foot motion and alignment, stance and swing timing, cadence, stride length, left–right symmetry and an overall Stride Quality Index.
Run
Stride symmetry and consistency, contact time, propulsion and landing mechanics — including how your pattern changes with fatigue.
Jump
Counter-movement jump and single, triple and side hop tests to compare limb loading and landing control between legs.
Neuro & balance
Gait variability and walking-pattern markers that help your clinician follow neurological and age-related changes over time.

Numbers you can actually use
Every assessment ends with a structured report: key scores, a visual walk profile, a gait line showing how each foot loads, and written findings with recommendations for your practitioner to review.
- Stride Quality Index, cadence, speed and symmetry at a glance
- Walk profile and gait line for each foot
- Findings, clinical implications and recommended next steps
- Repeat the test to see progress objectively
- Reviewed with your physiotherapist on screen

Built for real patients and athletes
Foot, ankle & podiatry
Pronation and supination patterns, heel-to-toe loading and insole decisions guided by how your foot actually moves.
Orthopaedic & MSK rehab
Back, hip, knee and Achilles problems, and recovery after knee surgery — objective tracking of walking quality week by week.
Sport & return to run
Running mechanics, hop tests and symmetry checks to support return-to-sport decisions and reduce re-injury risk.
Neurology & ageing
Gait variability and balance-related markers for neurological conditions and for older adults at risk of falls.
Validated against laboratory motion capture
Baliston Health reports around 95% agreement with optical motion capture for its validated metrics and protocols, supported by peer-reviewed studies published in the journal Sensors. This is not a universal accuracy figure for every measurement.

AI Mov-Scan and Balia are decision-support tools. They do not diagnose conditions, predict falls or clear an athlete to return to play. All interpretation and clinical decisions are made by your Iris practitioner.
Baliston Health is an independent technology company. AI Mov-Scan is used at Iris as part of our movement-assessment services. Visit baliston-health.com
