For New & Returning Patients

Patient Guide

Welcome to Iris Foot Care & Physiotherapy Center. This guide will help you know what to expect before, during, and after your treatment — so you can get the most out of your care with us.

1

Your First Visit

What to Expect

Your first appointment is an initial assessment, lasting approximately 1 hour. During this session, your physiotherapist will:

  • Discuss your medical history, symptoms, and goals
  • Perform a physical examination (movement, strength, posture, and functional tests)
  • Explain your condition in clear, simple terms
  • Design a personalised treatment plan together with you
  • Begin treatment, when appropriate

By the end of your first visit, you will understand what is causing your problem, how we plan to treat it, and how long recovery is likely to take.

What to Bring

  • A valid photo ID
  • Any referral letter from your doctor (if you have one)
  • Recent medical reports, X-rays, MRI, or ultrasound scans related to your condition
  • A list of medications you are currently taking
  • Your health insurance card or policy details (if applicable)

What to Wear

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated:

Lower back, hip, or leg problems

Shorts or loose trousers

Shoulder, neck, or arm problems

A vest top or t-shirt

Sports injuries

Your usual training wear is ideal

Changing facilities are available at the clinic.

2

During Your Treatment

Our Approach

Every treatment plan is tailored to you. Depending on your condition, your sessions may include:

Manual therapy

Hands-on techniques to mobilise joints and soft tissues.

Therapeutic exercise

Targeted exercises to restore strength, mobility, and function.

Education and self-management

Understanding your condition and how to manage it.

Physical modalities

Where appropriate — e.g. ultrasound, TENS, heat/cold therapy.

Rehabilitation programmes

Post-surgical, sports, or return-to-work rehabilitation.

Follow-Up Sessions

Follow-up appointments last 1 hour. The number of sessions you need depends on your condition — your physiotherapist will discuss this with you and review your progress regularly. Our goal is always to get you back to full function in as few sessions as possible.

Your Home Exercise Programme

Physiotherapy works best when treatment continues between sessions. You will receive a personalised home exercise programme — following it consistently is one of the most important factors in your recovery. If any exercise causes significant pain or you are unsure how to perform it, contact us before your next appointment.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 24 hours' notice so we can offer the slot to another patient. Cancellations made within 24 hours may incur a fee of 50% of the session cost.

Payments and Insurance

  • We accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, and cash. Instalment plans via PayLater are available for our multi-session packages
  • Payment is due at the time of each session unless otherwise agreed
  • We accept the basic national health insurance scheme (NHIS) under the Qatari healthcare system. We do not currently have direct billing agreements with private insurers — patients with private insurance are welcome to pay directly and request an itemised invoice for their own reimbursement claim
  • Invoices suitable for insurance reimbursement or tax purposes are available on request

Do I Need a Doctor's Referral?

You do not need a doctor's referral to book an assessment at our clinic — you can contact us directly and our licensed physiotherapists will evaluate your condition. However, please note:

  • Most health insurance providers in Qatar require a doctor's referral or prescription to approve and reimburse physiotherapy sessions — please check your policy before your first visit
  • If you have recently had surgery or are under the care of a specialist, we recommend bringing your medical reports and any referral or treatment instructions from your doctor
  • Where required, we can coordinate with your treating physician to ensure your care follows their recommendations
